Citing theses and dissertations
Turabian style dictates that even though theses and dissertations are in a sense "published," since they are not published with the "intention of general distribution," they may actually be considered unpublished works when it comes to citing it in your paper. Therefore, the title of the thesis or dissertation would not be italicized, but rather enclosed with qoutation marks in your bibliography.
Citations for theses or dissertations using the Turabian style should include:
- author
- title
- type of publication
- institution of publication
- date of publication
Example:
Matson, Diane Marie. "Accountability, Task Structure, and Evidence Evaluations in an Audit Review Process." Ph.D. diss., University of Minnesota, 1997.
