    Citing full-text articles within online databases

    Online articles

    Use these guidelines when citing journal articles found full-text within an online periodical index. When using APA style to cite full- text periodical articles from an electronic source, include the following information:

    • author(s)
    • date of the publication (which may include month and day)
    • full title of the article (include subtitle if present)
    • title of the journal, magazine, or newspaper
    • volume and issue numbers of the journal or magazine
    • page numbers
    • date when the researcher accessed the source
    • for a work from a subscription service: the name of the service


    Examples:


    Journal articles

    Olsson, L. (Winter 1996). Labor migration as a prelude to World 

      War I. International Migration Review 30 (4), 875-900.

      Retrieved April 10, 1999 from Academic Search Premier database.


    Magazine articles

    Sagrow, M. (1994, October) An art wedded to truth. The Atlantic

      Monthly, 274, 116-121. Retrieved January 10, 1999

      from Academic Search Premier database.


    Newspaper articles

    Friedman, D. (1999, March 28). Public health: The danger of hyping
