Citing encyclopedias and dictionaries
When citing encyclopedias or dictionaries, include the following information:
- author(s) and/or editor(s)
(for major reference works with large editorial boards, list the lead editor,
followed by et al.)
- year of publication or copyright
- title of article or entry
- encyclopedia or dictionary title
- edition (if present)
- volume number, page numbers
- city of publication
- publishing company
Example:
Janos, A. G. (1996). Cold war. In Encyclopedia Americana (6th ed., Vol. 3, pp. 222-223). Danbury, CT: Grolier.
